How is poetry like the meal you enjoyed last night?

Out of necessity comes food; comes words.
Some foods enliven.
Some words inspire.
Some foods, quirky.
Some words, peculiar.
Some appetites insatiable.
Some words hunger for themselves.

  1. (h. cont.)

A wanton woman tries to harm him
but she sufferes a series of near misses
A series of allies enters to protect him
he greets them and they reappear in guises

Flower girls, servants, bakers delivering items
They surround him with objects as talismans
He notices motion in the bushes, and shadows
There are many lakes, mirrors, and reflective surfaces
