Perhaps, Chiogga
Perhaps, tonight.

Perhaps, a poem.
Perhaps, not.

    Insignia under the rooftops reminded her of the ribbons
    And she lamented that he had gone off so far
    without her. Now where was the kindly merchant,
    his daughter, her companion, and the pastry man?

    She as procuror of flowers, occasional and ceremonial,
    should not be left behind with a senseless message:
    "come quickly and leave your billet behind."
    Why had he sent the handsome young boy?
