What in a poem is equivalent to a splash of fancy vinegar?

Let's confer on a fancy vinegar. I'm thinking Juniper Berries or Wild Fennel or even Raspberry Balsamic. Just reach across the table and snag a trinity of taste.

A slash here; a dash in the poem.

Almost unseen; however, palpable.

  1. This One Time (9)

Up on the dry hill beyond the grove
we sat to read to each other

The sun seemed so reticent to shine
and the grass, so fragrant with time

It was there I recognized another person
    outwitting all the desperate seekers

    Fundamental in logical ways
Yet joking about the origins of things
