Subject. Must poems have a subject?

Yes and no. Yes, if it's not restricted to the narrative. No, if it is. Seriously, is the subject of all poems, the personal, thinking. Perspective & memory.

Must a meal have a subject? Most likely. Consider, tapas with their subject of varied, small plates. Color, texture, and architecture.

  1. Yarn glance atypical of maidens lost
    yet fabulous as decanted sod
    arrivals of the insidious kind
    still wiping one's hand towel
    and dusting mirrors

no big deal is what you say
    when confounded by a question
    put it in your pocket
and pretend you do not care

once the guests have gone off
and you're nibbling on the cheese
regard the catch phrase as a warning
unloaded patchwork of an infamous barge
