Rip Tide
ReplyDeleteThe world is burning up
and children are walking the deserts
to escape the fire from the sky
A great white whale washed up on Pier 39
and sea lions swell on the beaches
we walked at dawn
The old man who grows tomatoes
no longer walks his big black dog
The glaciers are melting
The seas are rising
The garden is browning
The world is burning up
and yet the words keep flowing
the rain must be sometime showing
and you, my friend, keep going--
we all just carry our houses and our dreams
on our backs
Lovely posst
