A microscopic approach versus the whole enchilada. Perhaps, not a dichotomy. Consider, a dish that captures the spirit of an entire culture including its music. A poem which incorporates the hand & heart of the writer. The spoon which can trace the heart-line on the palm of the cook.
Just thinking
ReplyDeleteShe runs into the laundry room
grabs the wash to hang it up
on the slow wind of the morning
Joining them with the earth
sea and sky which she believes
she comprehends--
Hours later she wraps the sheet
around her, turning in its heat,
turning on a new axis
this first sight of day
