Virelay? Do any poets writing in virelay come to mind?

No. Not even in French.

Sounds like a sophisticated sauce for fish. Requiring attention in its preparation. A tad of cream. Most likely appointed with fresh tarragon.

  1. Lay By

    Perhaps originally a meaningless refrain
It's doubtful a picnic eaten in the rain

Serves up the same ambiguous vision
of two in a cabin in first class on a train

But sing on and set the sights of a beacon
on a stormy trip through fields of tarragon

Once Horace or his heiffer hits the City
we shall all be long gone
