Forget. What is the poem trying to forget?

What is the matter of a poem's dream? (Not "with.") Therein, lies.

Of course, a cook dreams of the ripe. Forgets or forgives, rot.

  1. Tries to Forget

out of the deepest spaces she took
    herself through resting, peeling,
    forbearing, revelling in the post

that which holds when all else fails
sunk down in the sand below sand
    riveted by time and despair

    cones of soft ice cream
wrapped in thin layers of paper
they ate those in the heat

of the beach named after her mother
