All ravens are crows.
Not all crows are ravens.
Note size.
Distinguish shape of tail feathers.
Listen for their calls.
Now, apply the above to poetry & prose. Noting that beauty unifies.
Raining harshly this morning; it appears ravens & crows have self-grounded. Exploration of differences on temporary hold. Thus, haiku (the cat) sleeps.
About food. Huge difference between tuna (recognizable as fish) and tuna (contained in can). Both are tuna (I think).
Call
ReplyDeletebut not too early
as I am washing out
the dishes and clothespins
we used for that artful exchange
down along the river, down by
the riverside
one's antique eyeglass frames
left on the bureau by my brooch
said something unforgettable
I have to tell you
when you call
but not too early
I am still soaked up in a sheet
and eating half-done toast
and my pal is eating his,
too
and the feeling of hearing rain
again and again is like a color
saturated with its sister
on the wheel
you want to get the two together
but know it's hell and hijinks
therefore make us something simple
before the power outs again
it's so lonely when that happens
and we think we are our parents
on continents under water
without their cars and coats
and phones
