Bread and a spread

and a star appears.  A carrot-top based chimichurri.  Perfect when the carrot greens shout "FRESH." And always, always good olive oil.  Have you noticed when a verb, a noun and a few of their friends show up on a page, a hue-ful poem might be ready to be served.  Might be ready to be savored.

Yelling "I can't" the old man stumbles past his bistro--
familiar though the sidewalk is, something nautical trips him up.
A smell of brass hooks the outside senses, that time
when they played for hours in his workshop,
candlesticks and lamp bases strewn like leaves and left there.
She has a picture of it somewhere, tossed into a box
with all the others--a list of people with white hair and hands
that held ours as we walked to get the mail.
