Can there be gloomy food in summer? How does this theory apply to poems?

I guess if the food is over-cooked.  Or the combination of rain & heat & cold is not in harmony.  And definitely if the poem is over-or-under edited.

A sudden burst of rain hit the table
and the merchant put on his hat
    The food, the lovely tomatoes,
splattered with the nitrogen of rain

But he did not make a move to leave the table
enjoying in an odd way the uncertain weather
when was the last time he had sat in the rain
steam rising from the newly painted table
