Here's how I read the traffic sign:

stop to take a picture.  Who can resist poppies & Angel's trumpets.  Brugmansia, even the word is lush.  Who can resist pendulous flowers with no spine with no fruit.  Speaking of fruit, this season's strawberries (so far) are so near and so luscious.  Yield to them as you yielded to pen & paper this morning.

An old locker found near the rusty signpost reveals a cache of notes the detective somehow mislaid. It seems to describe a surveillance but is less than accurate according to the pro's in the office. Detective is displaying an alarming tendency to embellish the facts, they claim. Does this help or hinder the inquiry?

    See what you think:

Surveillance 1 (dark night, drizzly, outside the roadway)

    His majesty's finished dinner?
    A young blade slips away
Alarm is set for 5 am
    No paper's at the gate
    Strawberries for dessert?
