Light is the flesh landscape calls home


What does a poem call home?  Paper, of course, which is another landscape.  The voice, too, is landscape and home to a poem. How do landscape and vista differ?  Is her voice a different timbre at daybreak?  Is breakfast inherently different than supper?

    never knowing the way out
    she might look at foreign skies
    read the maps of foreign lands
    distinct and random lines upon the earth--
    why marshal all our powers toward a common goal--
    steps as in children's games, bats and balls around the green
