Scales


and the notes thereupon.
Clouds are note-like.
Skies are paper-like
and plate-like.
And fish?
Yes, their scales
music to any plate.

    Riding the Train while Listening to Bill Evans

    Today the trains are slow and chilly
    and I wonder if I will weather this crossing--
    one needs a fire to make a way,
    a new way.
