What does the refrigerator share with blank paper?

A refrigerator is a palette from which a meal is made.   

Blank paper is the palette from which a poem might appear.

    Entertaining the possibility of reunion
    was perhaps the most pleasant part of the journey
    But the nostalgia of the blooming flowers
    attracted adjacent and contrapuntal notes
