What is the connection between fresh steamed corn & a poem?

Each ear of corn offers amazing opportunities for enjambment.  Each kernel might be said to be a word. Both poem and corn share a ripe physicality.  & delicious taste.

This was a propped up romance, he thought,
holding out a pail of hopefulness,
and I must search through the cinderblocks,
    so carefully once again.

Grandfather's corn stalks, grown in the yard
could be seen in the picture which she has kept
all these years. Oh the fun they had
as the young child chased him, he acting scared.
