Cooking is accomplished both indoors and outdoors. Is the same true of poetry?

Yup. Just as cooking & eating can be done indoors or outdoors, sitting or walking, so can poetry. Phrases for poems are written somewhere in the body as walking occurs. We usually say "head" but who really knows if it isn't the elbows or kneecaps which do the heavy lifting while in poetry-mode?

Do any of them really have it?
he asks at the table set for lunch
at the table set for lunch he asks
Do I really belong in the midst of this?

Over a plate of ripe melon and strawberries
he thought of the fruit vendor and her pathway:
why aren't you here yet? he wondered
Our plan was to meet at 12:30

His note still on the gate at her fruit stand
blew about with the westerly breeze
Just a leaf in her doorway, no trolley
For she had been called away by a friend
